The College of Art and Design consists of six specialized departments: Environmental Design Department, Visual Communication Design Department, Product Design Department, Arts and Crafts Department, Animation Department, and Basic Teaching & Research Department. While relying on the mechanism of industry-education integration, the college has built 17 professional studios and a number of teaching practice units such as the Center for Aesthetic Education, the Center for Art Design and Social Innovation, and the Center for Art Practice. In 2021, it was awarded “Heilongjiang Intangible Culture Inheritance Education Base” and “Heilongjiang Intangible Culture Inheritance Research Base” by Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

Relying on the design industry association and the college’s teaching and research innovation platform, the College of Art and Design builds a team of professional teachers with high theoretical level and rich teaching practice experience. The college has signed cooperation agreements with more than 30 domestic enterprises and institutions such as Heilongjiang Fine Arts Publishing House. The college has cooperated with well-known enterprises in the province to establish “Heilongjiang Engineering Creative Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.” to deepen the talent mechanism of integrating production and education, and to cultivate high-level applied design talents for the revitalization of Longjiang.
