The College of Science consists of three teaching departments: the Department of Advanced Mathematics, the Department of Engineering Mathematics, and the Department of University Physics; one department: the Department of Information and Computing Science; two experimental centers: the Experimental Center for University Mathematics and the Experimental Center for University Physics; two research institutes: the Institute of Applied Mathematics, and the Institute of Computational Atomic and Molecular Physics; and one research laboratory: the Laboratory of Numerical Approximation. The College of Science mainly undertakes the teaching and scientific research tasks of the basic courses of mathematics and physics as well as the major of information and computing science. While focusing on strengthening the teaching of basic courses, the college also actively carries out extracurricular activities for college students, such as mathematical modeling, in order to further cultivate the students’ innovative spirit and ability to comprehensively apply mathematical knowledge to solve practical problems.
